By 2022, we’ll be living surrounded by touch screens. You’ve probably already used a touch screen on your smartphone or tablet. However, if you are a weatherman, you may be horrified at the prospect of weatherman Greg Dutra messing with his screen. He and his co-workers, Terrell Brown and Val Warner, were so mesmerized by the touch screen that they interrupted their report to mess with it.
Apple to drop notch from iPhone 14
Unless Apple plans to launch a completely all-screen iPhone by then, the rumored notch-free iPhone 14 could be a few years off. If the rumored notch-free iPhone is indeed real, it could be a huge shift for the entire iPhone line. But what exactly is the notch and why is it so coveted? Let’s take a look at some of the most likely scenarios.
If it’s true that Apple will drop the notch on the iPhone 14, it means that the new iPhones will come with a hole-and-pill-shaped display. If this is the case, we can expect a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro. The notch, or not, is rumored to be gone. Instead, a pill-shaped cutout will replace the notch.
iPhone 14 Pro models to get CPU boost
Rumors suggest that Apple will upgrade its iPhone 14, Pro models with a significant boost in CPU power in August 2022. The release date is set for 23 September, though a few days later, pre-orders will begin. The company doesn’t arbitrarily implement features that it doesn’t think can make a difference compared to competing devices. Apple is already working on a crash detection feature for the iPhone and Apple Watch. It will use accelerometers to detect accidents and car crashes.
Apple’s A-Series chipset is known to be better than its predecessors, but this time around, it will be even faster. It will have 40% more power than the A13 chip that was in the iPhone 13. The new chip will also support the mmWave band, which makes it able to receive higher-quality signals. While Apple never reused the same chipset in two generations of iPhones, the A15 bionic is expected to be a marginal boost in terms of performance. That could also lead to lower prices for the iPhone 14 Pro, which started at $799.
ProMotion display on iPhone 14
The new technology will likely be used to produce Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 Pro. It will use a higher refresh rate, around 120Hz, than today’s LCD displays. But it won’t be a fully-fledged ProMotion display, so it is more likely to debut on a higher-end ‘iPhone 13’ or ‘iPhone 13 Pro’. Instead, Apple will likely use an LTPS display panel from LG and Samsung for lower-end models.
The rumor mills are predicting that the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro will have a 120Hz display. Apple has yet to confirm or deny whether it will use the technology, or not. The Pro-level iPhone will likely feature a punch-hole screen design, separating the high-end models from the cheaper models. But this design decision could also help Apple extend the 120Hz refresh rate to lower-end models.

5G connectivity on iPhone 14
Apple is rumored to be developing a new version of its iPhone that will include 5G connectivity. While this is not entirely clear, it is expected to be the first iPhone to debut support for 5G in several countries. The rumored iPhone 14 will be powered by 6nm TSMC chips, which improve power efficiency and battery life. Moreover, these chips will pave the way for Wi-Fi 6E, which will be three times faster than the previous generation. It will also operate on 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies, ensuring that the iPhone will be able to deliver ultra-fast 5G speeds.
The iPhone 14 is expected to feature a glass surface and titanium backside. The device will be based on the design of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 4. According to the renders of Jon Prosser, the new model will ditch the camera bump and feature a 120Hz refresh rate. Other rumored features include a 6.1-inch display with dual-pixel cameras, a titanium-coated backside, and a glass surface
